During his installation ceremony, as a nod to the home team, Bishop David Ricken, the man charged with calling the plays for the Green Bay diocese, decided to sing the chorus of the country song "Drop Kick Me, Jesus" before giving his homily in which he discussed St. Augustine's search for meaning.
I wonder if
"Drop kick me, Jesus, through the goal posts of life
End over end neither left nor to right
Straight through the heart of them righteous uprights
Drop kick me, Jesus, through the goal posts of life"
fits within the parameters of what Pope Benedict XVI, the Church's General Manager, intends for the liturgical music changes.
May God Bless His Eminence, Bishop Ricken. May the angels direct his arm and may his opponents never recognize when he's going for a Hail Mary play.
