Trans Fat - Forget About It

As of today New York City is a trans fat free zone. It has been legislated that commercial enterprises are not to use the LDL (bad) cholesterol raising, HDL (good) cholesterol lowering, artery clogging oil.

Of course, there are going to be eateries and bakeries that will be slow to comply, but initial reports are that most already have made the move to line their trans fat free ducks in a row.

I absolutely love this! Yes, I understand how this can be considered an intrusion into one's lifestyle, but, if the government is going to intrude, let it be for the betterment of the people. No one is going to be deprived of their french fries or donuts and those of us who see the landscape of eating outside of the house as a health battle zone need not be as concerned about our children's food choices.

It would be wonderful if this law sparks restaurants and bakeries outside of NYC to rethink their recipes. If it can be done there, it can be done anywhere.
